New CSS

As you can see I've been practising my CSS skills again. I've been learning by pulling apart a number of css journals here on DA to get to grips with what does what.

At first I was trying to change chunks and then seeing it how it worked; then today I had the bright idea of doing it an element at a time and voila! I hope that you like it. It's totally personal to me! My name, my hobby is the main design element (cross Stitch) and it's light and bright - much nicer to read imo.

Hope ya's like it :)

Summer Holidays

Okay, I know that I only started working back in May, but after four years off work and three years of Uni it's bloomin tiring!! And running after teens is mentally draining too! The next time someone says that Teachers are overpaid and don't do enough I think I'm going to punch them in the mouth!

Our school is in a deprived area - which is a label that annoys me to know end. I'm from the area I wasn't deprived because I had parents that gave a damn. I think it should be called a school for kids who's parents can't be arsed with them. That's basically who we get in there. It's really annoying because the kids get told that they're stupid and a waste of space at home and they end up believing it - they get screamed at so when they're misbehaving shouting at them just sends them into either a frenzy or a complete shut down so they don't learn.

There are so many problem teens in my school that it feels like it's going to explode at times.

So I hope that you can forgive me for looking forward to the summer holidays in five and a half weeks!!! Even if you don't - I really am! I'm planning on having a lovely crafty summer :D

Craftiness

Oh yes, I plan on doing lots of crafty things this summer - from stitching to restoring a dolls house. My sweet Mum-in-Law bought me an old dolls house that needs a heck of a lot of work doing to it. When it's finished I'll pop a piccie up but it will probably be a while yet - it needs a LOT of work. But when it is done I plan on not only putting up the finished shot but also a little group of shots of the progress of it at each stage.

So far I've ripped off the old roof and made a new one. Stripped the inside, tidied up the outside, and started to tile the roof. I'm really enjoying it; but I've never done it before so if anyone has any tips for me that would be great :)

your page looks great!!!

Isn't it a shame about the kids in your area? It's too bad that their parents can't be supportive - who knows what those kids have the potential to become....

Thanks sandra!

Yeh it is, but half the time I wonder if the kids actual tell them what's going on in school. I had a lad (in the 13/14 age range) misbehave terribly the other day. When the dept. head of the school called his mother she was like; my sons a good boy - he never misbehaves! When it was pointed out that he had had 10 detentions in the last term she was clueless about them. So I think it's six of one and half a dozen of the other.

yeah, sometimes the parents don't know or care. they like to live with thier head in the sand. Sometimes too, though, kids don't exactly volunteer info either. My kids are bad for that. THey don't keep anything bad secret - but they do "forget" to tell us some stuff.
