£1 Summer Promotion

Journal Entry: Fri May 29, 2009, 1:42 PM

Xitch Summer Promo

Well I have to say that business is very slow, but, hey it's the summer! People are out partying, off on their Holidays, and just enjoying the sunny weather - far too nice to sit inside and stitch! So we're having a massive promotion for stitchers to grab a bargain so that when all this lovely sunshine ends they can have something fabulous to stitch during the chilly months of winter!

So all individual patterns are just £1 and all collections are just £2.50. There's no miminum spend, you don't have to create an account with us, and everything is processed by Paypal! It's very simple. It's the way we like it :D

Full Time Work

Well my new job at the High School has been an eye opener. School is NOT how I remember it. This isn't the school I went to though, but if I was anything like these Kids are to my teachers, I owe each one an apology! I can't believe some of them. They just get up and walk out of the class room. They back chat, they don't line up outside the classrooms, nor do they stand behind their chairs until told to sit - or leave!

People go on about how the school is in a socially deprived area and that the parents aren't up to much cop in their attitude to their children or their studies, but I think that's bull. I've grown up in the same socially deprived area as them, I still live there, still renting my house from the Housing Association, and I've now got a degree and a decent paying job and in a few years I'll be up and away from here (hopefully!! lol) so it's not an excuse. My dad was unemployed most of my childhood up to my early teens, so there was never a lot of money. However, he was a disciplinarian.

That's what these kids lack. Discipline. If we could discipline them more in school they'd be more likely to actually bother. But no, kids today know what teachers can and can't do and they play on it big time; throwing your threats back in your face. 10 years ago when I was in school I'd have bricked it if a teacher had shouted at me, these kids just take it as a badge. It's nuts!

Bring back strictness - bring back spanking children (Not beating them!), bring back days when people where scared of the law, respected authority and when children listened to their elders (at least to the elders face! lol). /sigh.

Anyway. I'm ranting. It's what I do best... I'm off to stitch again! lol

I can't get the Paypal checkout to work. I'm trying to buy 4 patterns and 1 collection!!

Gotta show support for "real" designers. Not to mention that it's winter here and a great time to get to work on those hundreds of projects that are mounting up :D

Yeah, I must agree that the majority of kids today suck. Teaching is such an underpaid, monetarily and otherwise, profession.
On a happier note, I'm about to check out Xitch!

I agree - makes me wonder about going into private teaching :D
